Prosser: Next-generation iPhone SE to have same form-factor as iPhone XR
This year’s Apple introduced the new generation of iPhone SE, its most affordable mobile phone. While 2022 iPhone SE holds the same design as the previous generation, which is based on the iPhone 8, it seems that things will be very different from the next model. According to Youtuber Jon Prosser, the next iPhone SE will have the same form factor as the iPhone XR. Prosser reported the “Freared Up” podcast with Andru Edwards & Jon Retinger (via Appletrackr) that the next generation’s iPhone SE, also referred to as the iPhone SE 4, will be “only the iPhone XR.” This implies that Apple will throw away the old form of the iPhone 8 with a large bezel and a house button for a more modern design with a lower bezel, notch, and face ID.
While the iPhone SE currently has a 4.7 -inch LCD screen, iPhone XR (which is no longer sold by Apple) has a larger 6.1 -inch LCD screen. iPhone XR also has several other advantages compared to the iPhone SE 2022, such as a much larger battery. Other details about the new iPhone SE remain unclear at this time. In the past, Apple had added the latest chip to the iPhone SE Entry-Level-Model currently using the same A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13. However, with rumors pointing to several iPhone 14 models that guard the A15 chip, it might be the same as a reality for the iPhone SE Next.
As for the camera, both the iPhone SE 2022 and iPhone XR have sensors that are very similar to a single 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and 7 megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture. Of course, Apple can increase the camera sensor for the next iPhone SE, or at least add new software features such as night mode (which is still not available on the iPhone Entry-Level).
On the other hand, small mobile fans might not be happy with the iPhone SE to be bigger. When the first iPhone SE was announced in 2016, Apple believes that it was made for people who like small cellphones. After all, the 2016 iPhone SE is based on the iPhone 5S. Even now, the iPhone SE is now much smaller than other iPhone models, except for iPhone Mini. At the same time, the request for the iPhone SE 2022 was quite low, showing that people are no longer interested in buying an iPhone with a design from almost a decade ago. The smaller screen also produces a smaller battery, which is a constant complaint from the iPhone I owner.
