Instagram users beware: Instagram quietly removes this feature from the app

In a step that tends to have an impact on how much time users spend on social media sites, Tech Giant Instagram’s social media secretly removes the ability for its users to limit the daily use of the application to less than 30 minutes. This happens after the previous company supports the user specified limit for Instagram which can be as low as 15 minutes, or even 10 minutes per day. The giant social media technology is “making a great PR encouragement to suggest that the use of services more ‘attentive’ is possible, because of concern for social media addiction soaring,” according to the Tech Crunch report.

According to Mac rumors, following the latest application updates, the daily set of menu sets’ appears and asks for users to choose how long it should be, with a minimum of 30 minutes, while the radio button next to the maximum three hours previously selected on the menu card as if it were to encourage users to choose that limit.

In 2018, Instagram has introduced an option in the application to set the daily deadline, with reminders that will be sent when the deadline is achieved – useful for those who want to reduce the use of their social media. Users can choose the deadline as low as ten or even five minutes a day, but choosing the short duration is no longer possible. Popup is said that the user can keep the limit if they want, but additional rules on the activity page in the application says the 10-minute value is “no longer supported.” So, after updates, users will find new limits available now 30 minutes, 45 minutes, one hour, two hours, and three hours.

Changes come only a few months after Instagram introduces the ‘Take Rest’ feature that allows users to choose to receive periodic reminders if they have been in the application for a long time. The change followed a disappointing quarterly income reported by Meta earlier this month, which saw the company trimmed its guidance for the first quarter of 2022 of USD 30 billion.

Mac rumors report further noted, META partially blamed its weaker appearance in the steps taken by Apple to increase the privacy of users by making it more difficult for the platform and application to track users in other applications and websites for the purpose of advertising targeting, Meta will be charged a business fee of USD 10 billion this year.
