North Carolina Resident’s $100K Lottery Win Fuels Dream of Building Schools in Africa

Lottery Winner from North Carolina Aims to Build Schools and Dance Center in Mali with $100K Prize

A fortunate resident of North Carolina recently struck gold, winning a substantial $100,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket. Souleymane Sana, a 39-year-old dance instructor originally from Mali, has big plans for his newfound fortune—to fulfill his lifelong dream of constructing schools and a dance center in his home country.

Sana purchased the winning ticket, a $30 Millionaire Maker scratch-off, at a gas station in Kinston, North Carolina, as confirmed by state lottery officials. Having already established a nonprofit organization to assist people in the United States, Sana now wants to expand his philanthropic efforts with the help of his lottery winnings.

“My ultimate goal is to create more classrooms for the children in Mali,” Sana expressed to lottery officials. “Nothing brings me more joy than making a positive impact on their education.”

He added, “My dream is gradually becoming a reality, and I hope to keep the momentum going.”

Beyond educational facilities, Sana also intends to establish a dance center. Passionate about dancing himself, he aims to share his love for the art form and instill it in the children of Mali.

“I am deeply passionate about dance and I want to inspire the children in Mali to embrace it as well,” Sana explained, as relayed by lottery officials. “Culture and education go hand in hand.”

Opting for the lump-sum payment, Sana received $71,259 after taxes. During an interview with lottery officials, he expressed his intention to continue playing scratch-off tickets, hoping for more wins that will enable him to further support charitable causes.

Sana’s extraordinary journey exemplifies how a stroke of luck can transform lives and ignite meaningful change. Through his philanthropic endeavors, he aims to empower future generations by providing them with quality education and opportunities for artistic expression.
