Zoom app will no longer be supported on these laptops from August 2022: Details
Zoom App is no longer officially supported in Chromebook starting in August 2022 so if you still use it, maybe now is the time to switch to something more modern and potentially more useful. Zoom web application version, to be exact.
Chromebook runs Chrome OS and supports the Chrome application, based on the convention, but recently Google has shifted its focus to the progressive website application because of the “first -class user experience” that they seemed to do. In line with this strategy, which was first announced in 2020, Google will draw plugs in the Chrome application on Chromebook powered by OS Chrome. The new application will no longer be accepted while the existing ones will be deleted on the Chrome Web Store starting in June 2022. Windows, Mac, and Linux dropped support for the Chrome application in June 2021.
The developer can choose to make it available personally, but it still needs to be seen how many people want to go down to the route. At least zoom is not too surprising considering it functions as a naked version in Chrome OS with limited functionality and far less updates, even when applications on other platforms have increased significantly during Pandemic.
You might still be able to use the Zoom application for some time even after official support ends, but if you are a Chromebook user, it would be better to switch to the Zoom web application that has been available on Chromebook since 2021 and offers many better functionality. Although, there are some technical and bug losses for that, at first, Zoom has made improvements from time to time, making it a worthy option for video calls.
